Here's
what we'll work through in either the initial 10
lessons or the book:
Scales - for
most, this is just some basic review of western scale structure
starting with the most basic formats. For newbies it's essential,
polished professionals may wish to skip over it and proceed to the
ever important #2...
_______________________
Positions and
Fingering - "basic
fingering and position fundamentals". I offer a
link to page 9 in Chapter
2 of the book. Basic fingering is one of the most missed of
fundamental technique and deserves a review by anyone interested in improving
his craft!
_______________________
Harmonic Intervals - Ear training to simply memorize Major and
minor triads. The lesson is linked to
sound files and after lots of drilling you'll get a worksheet to
complete using the linked sound files.
_______________________
Pulse Exercises - I love this one. I picked it up from a very
enthusiastic theory teacher working here in Bangkok. I linked a
sample lesson from pages 13 and 14 in Chapter 4 of the book.
Click for a Sample.
_______________________
Modes - Major Modes, Relative and Parallel - the seven modes
based on the major scale.
_______________________
Alternate fingering - The Major Scale example is a repeating
pattern of sliding the first finger. See what I mean by "run em in
all 12 keys" by following the
Next->
links through the circle of 5ths.
_______________________
Intervals & Chords - More Ear Training combined with fret
board memorization.
_______________________
Time Signature Exercises
- Dig into the basics of time
signatures and rhythmic symbols.
_______________________
Sight Reading
- In lesson 9 we make a close inspection of key signatures and how
they relate to your instrument.

Thumb Slap
- Step 1 & Step 2
- Basic "Hammer-On Slap Technique"
